Ruben Lopez
1957-1996

A flashover at a fire in a two-story residence killed Ruben Lopez, a district chief of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department on December 4, 1996. He was searching for an occupant when the flashover occurred at 4006 Roseneath. Ruben was working out of fire station 25, where he usually rode his volunteer shifts. The district chief joined the volunteer fire department in 1987.

Rudolph L. Hendricks
1906-1929

Firefighter Rudolph "Rudy" Hendricks, Engine 25, was electrocuted at a fire on June 22, 1929 at 3252 Reeves St. He was operating a nozzle at the rear of the fully involved house when the overhead electrical drop burned loose and fell. The falling wire encircled him and he died despite the immediate administration of artificial respiration by fellow firefighters. Hendricks joined the department on January 4, 1928.
